Betreff: Minority Politics Summer Zoom Seminar Series
Dear Jolanda,
I hope this email finds you well. I’m writing to share with you that me and a couple of colleagues are beginning a short zoom seminar series on minority politics in comparative politics, American politics, and political psychology. We have invited rising junior scholars to present some of their work.
The schedule is as follows:
* June 4: Adam Bonica, Jake Grumbach, Charlotte Hill, and Hakeem Jefferson, "All-Mail Voting Increases Turnout and Reduces Turnout Inequality"
* June 11: Sa-Kiera Hudson, Mina Cikara, and Jim Sidanius "Preference for hierarchy is associated with apathetic and antipathic emotions and policies"
* June 18: Maja Kutlaca and Ruthie Pliskin, "Be mindful of your own bigotry! Confrontation of ideological intolerance and the implications for conflict resolution"
* June 25: Prabin Khadka, "Casualties of War and Radical Extremism: Experimental Evidence from Somalia"
* July 2: Mara Ostfeld and Nicole Yadon, "The Gravity of Color: Skin Color and Power in Contemporary American Politics"
* July 9: Salma Mousa, “Contact in the Classroom: Can Virtual Exchanges Build Tolerance?”
The zoom seminars will only be 1 hour long: 40-45 minutes presentation, 15 minutes Q&A.
Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible of scholars in different time zones and countries. We would like to have as many people participate as possible, so as to make the presentation of scholarly work much more accessible, especially now that conferences have been canceled.
I am writing to ask if you would like to attend, and also if you would not mind sharing this information with your students and colleagues in your department. If anyone is interested in presenting at a future date, they can also indicate their interest on the google form.
Here is the google form to sign up for the listserv: https://forms.gle/kxjuFTf2JybqXtTdA.
If you happen to have a twitter or social media account, and you would feel comfortable doing so, would you be so inclined as to also tweet to your followers about the seminar?
Thank you in advance. If there are any additional questions that you may have, please do let me know.
Best,
Mark Brandt
