Call for Applications to the International Society of Political Psychology Academy 2022

The ISPP Academy is currently accepting applications for its annual three-day workshop held prior to the annual ISPP meeting. The Academy will take place in a hybrid format, July 11th – July 13th, 2022.

Overview of the ISPP Academy
The ISPP Academy aims to train interested faculty and students in both foundational research and cutting-edge methodologies in the area of political psychology. The Academy’s central objective is to spread interest and promote training in political psychology around the world. This is done through bringing together early career scholars in political psychology and related fields with leading political psychology academics who can provide insights into the leading research in the field and allow for detailed discussion on topics of interest to participants.

The 2022 ISPP Academy will feature lectures and several Q&A sessions with prominent political psychologists from around the world. The instructors will teach on a variety of topics. This year’s Academy will also have a pocket theme aligned with the 2022 Annual Meeting’s theme Democracy as an Achievement, which will be the focus of some of the lectures. Currently confirmed instructors include Felicia Pratto (University of Connecticut), Hermann Swart (Stellenbosch University), Iris Žeželj (Belgrade University), Johanna Dunaway (Texas A&M University), Nicholas Valentino (University of Michigan), Rosario Aguilar (Newcastle University). We will be adding more names to the list in the upcoming weeks.

Format for the 2022 Academy

This year we expect the ISPP Academy to be a hybrid format. Lectures recorded by the Academy instructors will be made available online along with other preparation materials before the in-person sessions. The fellows will then participate in the in-person breakout sessions with instructors in Athens between July 11th and July 13th. The breakout sessions give the fellows the opportunity to ask questions about the topic and discuss their research. There will also be plenty of opportunities for fellows to interact and network with each other and with the Academy instructors such as lunches, a dinner, coffee breaks, and other social activities.

The registration fee for the 2022 ISPP Academy will be USD $340. The ISPP Academy Fellows will also receive membership in ISPP for one year, and a 50% discount on registration for the 2022 ISPP Annual Meeting, which is already calculated in the registration prices paid for the ISPP Academy.

Please note that all attendees will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and show proof of their vaccination status. Also note that all attendees will be required to wear face masks during the in-person breakout sessions.
